individual hope to gain from working with me.
Editorial Review I read your manuscript, in whatever
stage it currently exists. I give you general
feedback on what you can improve, and highlight a few of the weakest and strongest
areas of your work.
Standard Rate: $0.007/word
Outline Editing Ideally, outline editing occurs early in your
manuscript
process, when you have fleshed-out ideas but have not yet set those ideas into an
expanded framework
of sequences that would be difficult and painstaking to rearrange later. A form
of
developmental editing, outline editing is manuscript bone surgery. I evaluate
features such as overarching plot/outline points and communication goals, consider
whether your sequencing is logical, and highlight potential logic or storyform pitfalls
for
you to watch out for while you are further developing your manuscript.
Standard Rate: $0.04–0.05/word
Late-Developmental Editing The partner to outline editing, late-dev
editing ideally occurs after, or during, a first draft. This stage analyzes the muscles
of
your manuscript—for stories, this might mean scene structures and characterizations;
for
nonfiction documents, this might be explanations or depth of research. I highlight weak
points and recommend solutions for problem areas you might be struggling with.
Standard Rate: $0.04–0.05/word
Line Editing/Copyediting Line
editing considers your manuscript sentence by sentence to improve features such as verb
tenses, remove redundant or unnecessary
words, clarify speakers and communication points, and correct improper sentence
construction
or word use.
Standard Rate: $0.02–0.04/word
Proofreading
Quick Check
I quickly read through your document to catch any mistakes or inconsistencies. Ideal for
short
documents, advertising copy, or social media proofs, this service is for works 500 words
or fewer.
Standard Rate: $15 Flat Rate
Proofreading The final, thorough sweep through a manuscript for
any
errors,
proofreading comes after all other types of editing. I check for errors such
as
typos and improper
punctuation, spelling, and capitalization use.
Standard Rate: $0.01–0.03/word
Coaching

Standard Coaching
We meet on a regular basis—either in person or via video
chat—and we chat up your word work. I empower you to set goals, encourage you
to
keep
them
(with grace for when life is tough), and read and give feedback on your
work
on a
rotating basis defined by our meet schedule.
Standard Rate: $100/session includes 1 hour of meet time + 1 hour
behind-the-scenes
read/edit time between sessions.
Brainstorming Session
We meet for an hour. You give me a brief rundown of the context of your problem, I ask questions for clarification, and we brainstorm solutions to vanquish the obstacle you are facing. I continue problem-solving after our meeting and present you with a short document detailing key thoughts within a week.
I adore these sessions so much that I offer one FREE per client every six months.
